On Saturday, 16 May, we will host an activity for The Collector Is Present: a walk beginning at 11:00 AM. The description is as follows:
Walk with Josselin Souris and the artists Gregory Thielker, Mar Hernández, and Peter Eastman. We propose a walk through Barcelona designed as a route that moves between natural environments and urban spaces, echoing the themes explored in the exhibition at the gallery. Throughout the walk, Josselin Souris will engage the artists in a conversation about drawing and painting, and about how these practices are activated in relation to landscape, perception, and the experience of one’s surroundings. Attendance will require RSVP.
Looks Can Kill brings together the work of Gregory Thielker, Mar Hernández Riquelme, and Peter Eastman. The exhibition takes landscape as a starting point to examine how perception shapes and transforms what we see.
Thielker presents a landscape that becomes a perceptual and mental experience, a place that challenges rather than merely invites observation. Hernández navigates domestic and urban spaces marked by loss, presence, and traces, highlighting what survives and what bears the imprint of human action. Eastman works with light and perception, rendering the landscape as an immediate and intense experience, where every detail measures the relationship between observer and environment.
The exhibition dismantles the tradition of landscape as mere contemplation, transforming space into a living ground of perceptions, relationships, and tensions. It does not simply show, but forces the gaze to confront presence, fragility, and the echo of what we inhabit and traverse
