Greta Alfaro lives and works in London. She graduated from an MA in Photography in 2011 at Royal College of Art, London, after a BA in Fine Arts by Universidad Politécnica of Valencia in 2001. She has got Scholarships and Prizes from the Collection CAM of Contemporary Art, the Moving Image Fair in New York, the Genesis Foundation from London and the Photography Prize for Young artists by El Cultural Magazine (El Mundo). Her Solo Exhibitions include Fornacalia (2021) at Cooke Latham Gallery, London; En las alas de un murciélago at sala Universitas de la Universidad Miguel Hernánez, Elche; Decimocuarta estación (2019) at la Fundación BBVA, Madrid; A Very Crafty and Tricky Contrivance (Fish and Coal Building, London, 2012); Invention (curated by Andrea Paasch at Museo Ex Teresa Arte Actual, Mexico DF, 2012); Praise of the Beast (Huarte Center for Contemporary Art, Pamplona, 2010); In Ictu Oculi (curated by Antonia Gaeta, at Carpe Diem arte e pesquisa, Lisbon, 2009) and Ricorrenza (curated by Alba Braza Boïls, at Dryphoto arte contemporanea, Prato, Italia, 2008). Most recent Groups Shows are: New Order: British Art Now, at Saatchi Gallery, London; Whitechapel Open at Whitechapel Gallery, London, Inanimate Beings. Inéditos at La Casa Encendida, Madrid; Drama, Baby, Drama at Kunsthaus Essen, Grmany; Bestes, Bestiaux et Bestioles at the Conciergerie in Paris; Bloomberg New Contemporaries at ICA, London. Her videoart works have been shown at Centre Pompidou (Paris) into the context of Rencontres Internationales París/Berlín/Madrid; Contest Section of International Film Festival of Rotterdam and Punto de Vista Documentary Festival in Pamplona.
Suburbia Contemporary opens Solitude by Greta Alfaro on May 8, and on May 10 at 6 PM presents the Speed Art Talk with collector Agnes Scheltema and the artist: 7 minutes of face-to-face conversations.
Suburbia Contemporary inaugura Solitude de Greta Alfaro el proper 8 de maig, i el 10 de maig a les 18 h presenta el Speed Art Talk amb la col·leccionista Agnes Scheltema i l’artista: 7 minuts de conversa cara a cara. Una trobada dinàmica i informal per conversar cara a cara amb professionals i apassionats del món de l’art.
Cada participant del públic tindrà 7 minuts per dialogar individualment amb Agnes Scheltema, col·leccionista, i Greta Alfaro, artista. Explorarem la relació entre el col·leccionisme i la pràctica artística en un format àgil i proper.
Agnes Scheltema és una emprenedora i col·leccionista d’art establerta a Barcelona, amb formació en Arts i experiència al Museum Voorlinden.
Greta Alfaro és artista visual i viu entre el Regne Unit i Espanya. Llicenciada en Belles Arts i Màster en Fotografia pel Royal College of Art de Londres, ha rebut nombrosos premis i beques, i ha exposat internacionalment en institucions com la Whitechapel Gallery, el Kiasma, el Bass Museum of Art o el Museu Artium. Actualment és vocal del patronat del Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Huarte.
