In his most recent works, Zhe addresses the theme of escape with a profound and penetrating intensity. Far from the traditional interpretation of flight as a sign of weakness, his creations suggest that evasion can be a necessary and instinctive response to a fragmented world. It is not just a physical escape, but an inner battle against the prison of the soul, a struggle against the weight of expectations and fears imposed from the outside. In an increasingly tumultuous world marked by conflicts, climate crises, and social chaos, the instinct to escape emerges as a natural defense, a silent act of resistance against disorientation and anxiety. The faceless figures in his paintings, the incongruous fountains, and the Buddhist incense that permeates the scene evoke a universe that challenges logic, forcing the viewer to confront their own unease. Zhe dismantles the conventional meaning of evasion, transforming it into an act of resilience. Through images that blend reality and illusion, he invites us to see escape as a psychological process of self-regulation, capable of protecting the individual from an uncontrollable world. His works serve as a call to reflect on the significance of escape in modern life—an essential act that, while it may leave scars, represents a form of inner survival.
